Baseball Recap: Florence Has No Trouble Against Globe

Florence barely beat Globe the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Gophers put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 11-1 victory on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-4 back in March.

Florence let Zane O'Rourke and Logan Stenson run wild. O'Rourke went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Stenson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Lorefice, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Florence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.

Florence's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Globe, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Looking ahead, Florence will take on Hayden at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Gophers 3.5, the Lobos 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Globe, they will challenge Ray at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Bearcats have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
