El Camino and South San Francisco are an even 4-4 against one another since November of 2014, but not for long. The El Camino Colts will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the South San Francisco Warriors at 2:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: El Camino has struggled recently with 11 losses in a row, while South San Francisco will arrive with seven straight victories.
El Camino fell victim to Santa Clara's stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Bruins, falling 42-0.
Meanwhile, South San Francisco can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They breezed by Monta Vista at home to the tune of 44-0.
Elijah Fields had a dynamite game for South San Francisco, rushing for 132 yards and three touchdowns. Fields was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards.
El Camino's defeat was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Capuchino and 11-2 Sacred Heart Prep (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70.3% over those games). As for South San Francisco, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
El Camino was able to grind out a solid win over South San Francisco in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, winning 21-14. Will El Camino repeat their success, or does South San Francisco have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
