The Mukwonago Indians will head out to challenge the Indian Trail Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Mukwonago has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 13.
Mukwonago came into this matchup off a tough nine-run defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Loyola Academy by a score of 12-10 on Saturday.
Mukwonago got a massive performance out of Jordan Chatham, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was Chatham's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Liv Eckert, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Indian Trail hadn't done well against Union Grove recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Hawks came out on top against the Broncos by a score of 9-6. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Hawks as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Claire Giese was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Sadie Koci was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Indian Trail now has a winning record of 6-5-1. As for Mukwonago, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Mukwonago hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Indian Trail struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Mukwonago might still be hurting after the 10-1 defeat they got from Indian Trail when the teams last played back in April of 2018. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
