Even though the Hyde Park Thunderbirds scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, the Rich Township Raptors still came out on top. Rich Township walked away with a 67-59 win over Hyde Park. For Rich Township, this counts as revenge for the 69-48 loss Hyde Park walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Rich Township's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Samar Bures, who scored 16 points along with seven assists. The contest was Bures' third in a row with at least ten points. Angelo Coleman was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Rich Township has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Hyde Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-4.
Rich Township will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitney Young at 6:30 p.m. on January 7th. Hyde Park's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hansberry at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. Hansberry will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Hyde Park is ranked 94th).
