The Bowne Wildcats's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Cardozo Judges at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. Bowne knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 matches -- so hopefully Cardozo likes a good challenge.
Bowne can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 76-52 margin over Francis Lewis. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Bowne has posted since December 21, 2023.
Bowne can attribute much of their success to Christopher Judge, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Messiah Person-Kennedy, who almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, nine rebounds, and 11 blocks. That's the first time this season that Person-Kennedy pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Khaleel Williams-Mitchell, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Cardozo put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Forest Hills by a score of 84-76. Given Cardozo's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Forest Hills is ranked 383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bowne's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.9 points per game. As for Cardozo, their victory bumped their record up to 17-0.
Bowne and Cardozo were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but Bowne came up empty-handed after a 60-59 loss. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Cardozo's Jordin Walker, who scored 22 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. Now that Bowne knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
