Baseball Recap: Isle of Wight Academy Takes a Loss

Isle of Wight Academy lost against Windsor back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Chargers fell just short of the Dukes by a score of 3-2. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jake Wells put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Wells wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt King, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Isle of Wight Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Windsor, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Isle of Wight Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Windsor, they will take on Surry County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Dukes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season.
