The Pathways Eagles will take on the Martin County Tigers in a holiday battle at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Pathways' and Victory Charter School's matchup on Tuesday was close at halftime, but Pathways turned on the heat in the second half with 30 points. Pathways put the hurt on Victory Charter School with a sharp 53-32 win. Winning may never get old, but Pathways sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pathways to victory, but perhaps none more so than Steven Edwards, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Edwards hasn't dropped below two blocks for four straight games. Branden Southall was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Martin County scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 72-58 victory over McKeel Academy. The win was all the more spectacular given Martin County's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 381st, while McKeel Academy is ranked 157th).
Pathways is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Martin County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.
