Perry is 1-9 against Basha since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Pumas will welcome the Bears at 3:45 p.m. Perry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Perry took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Xavier College Prep with a sharp 15-2 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pumas needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Brynlee Brassfield was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Perry got a massive performance out of Ellie Leicht, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Leicht has posted since back in April of 2025. Braylee Harder was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Perry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. They are 6-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Basha faced O'Connor in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Bears walked away with a 9-4 win over the Eagles. The victory was familiar territory for the Bears, who have now won six contests in a row.
Makaila Quinney was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Bragg, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI.
Perry now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Basha, their win bumped their record up to 9-2-2.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Perry hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .392. However, it's not like Basha struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Perry couldn't quite get it done against Basha in their previous meeting on Tuesday as they fell 5-0. Will the Pumas have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
