Softball Recap: Mercy Wins Going Away Against Castilleja

Mercy won the last time they faced Castilleja and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bears were the clear victors by a 19-5 margin over the Gators. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won four games by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Aveline Anderson was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season. Vikki Saenz was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Mercy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory made it two in a row for Mercy and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Castilleja, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Mercy will square off against Terra Nova at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Castilleja, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Palo Alto at 4:00 p.m. on the 16th.
