The Fort Hill Sentinels will venture away from home to square off against the Saint James Saints at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fort Hill will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Smithsburg on Thursday. The Sentinels were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Leopards. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Sentinels this season.

Haley Metz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Metz was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Brynnan Wigger was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Summer Welsh, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Fort Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Saint James won against Potomac School on Monday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Saints' pitcher stepped up to hand Winters Mill a 5-0 shutout. The win was nothing new for the Saints as they're now sitting on three straight.
Not much got past Lily Schlotterbeck ?26, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Winters Mill off the board. Schlotterbeck ?26 has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Saint James let Carli Mazaleski ?25 and Tenley Mullendore ?27 run wild. Mazaleski ?25 went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Mullendore ?27 went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Saint James' victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Hill, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-11.
Fort Hill came up short against Saint James in their previous matchup last Wednesday, falling 5-0. Can the Sentinels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
