Jameson Connolly was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lorenzo Jaramillo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Joey Facilla, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Edmonds-Woodway nor Stanwood made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Warriors fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 2-1. The Warriors' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Declan Crawford was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April.
On the hitting side, Edmonds-Woodway saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lukas Wanke, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Shorewood's record now sits at 14-8. As for Edmonds-Woodway, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Shorewood has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Edmonds-Woodway struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
