Burbank and the Bears are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Burbank Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Burroughs Bears at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Burbank is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
Even though Hoover scored an imposing 64 points on Tuesday, Burbank still came out on top. Burbank sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-64 win over the Tornados.
Odartey Blankson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Burbank's points. Kevin Dehbashian was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Meanwhile, Burroughs pushed their score all the way to 64 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Muir. Burroughs has not had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Elijah Orjuela, who scored 16 points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Kardosh, who scored 20 points.
Burbank's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-21. As for Burroughs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-13 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Burbank hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.5 points per game. However, it's not like Burroughs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 55.8 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Burbank and the Bears were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January, but the Bulldogs came up empty-handed after a 74-73 defeat. Will Burbank have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
