Christian Richey Delivers Best Performance of Season
On Friday, Hillcrest got the W thanks in part to Christian Richey playing the best football he has all season. Richey rushed for 187 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 30 receiving yards and a touchdown. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (106.1). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards.
Hillcrest now has a winning record of 4-3. They and Thompson are set to duel on Friday.

Anquon Fegans Dazzles in Thompson Win
Anquon Fegans was a major factor in Thompson's victory over Hewitt-Trussville on Friday. Hewitt-Trussville had no answer to Fegans as he forced a fumble and made six total tackles.
Hewitt-Trussville had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Fegans it was a similar story. Back in November of 2023 (the last time Fegans saw the Huskies), he forced a fumble, made seven total tackles, and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception.

Big Game from Kimbrough As Hillcrest Won 42-21
The second Hillcrest player making an appearance here is Bryson Kimbrough, and for good reason. He threw for 134 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown.
For the season, Kimbrough has thrown 6 touchdowns while averaging 138.7 passing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 25.71 passing yards per game.

Vestavia Hills found a leader in Charlie Taaffe as the squad took down Prattville on Friday. Taaffe did his part (and then some), throwing for 188 yards and two touchdowns on perfect 11-for-11 passing, while also rushing for 33 yards and a touchdown for the 'W'.
This season, Taaffe has thrown 4 touchdowns while averaging 135.2 passing yards per game.

A Season-Best Performance from Denarrius Crawford Leads Hewitt-Trussville over Thompson
Sadly, Denarrius Crawford posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Hewitt-Trussville over Thompson on Friday. Crawford picked up a sack, forced a fumble, and made 13 total tackles.
Hewitt-Trussville's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2. Crawford and Hewitt-Trussville will face off against Prattville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
