Austin couldn't beat Bowie on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Maroons lost 15-5 to the Bulldawgs. The loss continues a trend for the Maroons in their meetings with the Bulldawgs: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lake Travis, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on Akins with a sharp 16-3 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.
Julianna Rodriguez and Natalie Gerlach made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Rodriguez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Gerlach struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. At bat, Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Gerlach went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Lake Travis let Ella Smith and Alyssa Marks run wild. Smith went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Marks went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Smith has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Dantaya Brown, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.
Lake Travis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Lake Travis' win bumped their record up to 11-12-1. As for Austin, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.
Austin came up short against Lake Travis in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, falling 6-3. Can the Maroons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
