Basketball Game Preview: Bonita Vista Barons vs. Mission Bay Buccaneers

Bonita Vista is 1-6 against Mission Bay since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Bonita Vista Barons will jump right back in to play the Mission Bay Buccaneers at 6:30 p.m. Bonita Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Mission Bay likes a good challenge.

Bonita Vista will head into Friday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 30) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Hoover out 63-61.

Aaron Owens was his usual excellent self, putting up 20 points. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Mitchell, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Mission Bay beat Rancho Christian 48-44 two weeks ago. The 48-point effort marked the Buccaneers' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Mission Bay's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.5 points. As for Bonita Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Bonita Vista might still be hurting after the 71-49 loss they got from Mission Bay in their previous meeting back in November. Can Bonita Vista avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
