The Mission Hills Grizzlies will face off against the Valhalla Norsemen at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mission Hills will be strutting in after a victory while Valhalla will be coming in after a defeat.
Mission Hills took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Mar Vista with a sharp 14-8 win. The contest marked the Grizzlies' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Leah Llamas was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mission Hills got a massive performance out of Gracelynn Templeton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run was Templeton's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Penelope Morales, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI.
Mission Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Valhalla suffered their closest loss since February 26, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Torrey Pines by a score of 3-1. The Norsemen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Valhalla saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Voth, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Mission Hills' record now sits at 5-2. As for Valhalla, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Mission Hills skirted past Valhalla 8-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Will Mission Hills repeat their success, or does Valhalla have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
