Even though the West Lincoln Rebels have not done well against the Newton-Conover Red Devils recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. West Lincoln came out on top against Newton-Conover by a score of 40-28. The victory made it back-to-back wins for West Lincoln.
Carolina Robinson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 20 rebounds. Robinson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Newton-Conover's loss came despite strong showings from Sara Sain and Hadleigh Swagger. Sain scored four points along with seven rebounds and two blocks, while Swagger scored 11 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Swagger grabbed two or more steals.
West Lincoln has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-9 record this season. As for Newton-Conover, they have fallen quite a ways from their 25-5 record last season and are now at 3-11.
West Lincoln will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West Caldwell at 6:00 p.m. West Caldwell and West Lincoln are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. Newton-Conover's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bandys at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. Bandys is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.2 points per game.
