The Timnath Cubs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 28 points or more this season. They really took it to Basalt for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-15 victory on the road. Winning may never get old, but Timnath sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Timnath's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tiana Guzman led the charge by scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracyn Redmon, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Timnath's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Basalt, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Timnath will be playing at home against The Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Timnath is ranked 100th). As for Basalt, they will head out on the road to face off against Summit at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Summit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Thursday.
