4A Region 6 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Germantown extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 6 this week by beating North Pike, 31-27. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Mendenhall moved up to 70 from 99 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers were able to make move up by besting Purvis 31-20.
Germantown's dynamic duo of Peyton Johnson and Jaylen Smith proved tough for the Jaguars to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Johnson threw for 80 yards and Smith had 57 yards receiving. Travis Singleton helped Germantown's passing attack out by catching one ball for 33 yards.
Khadarel Hodge provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Mendenhall beat the Tornadoes. He completed six passes for 69 yards and also ran for 241 yards. Hodge's favorite target this week was Julius Craft, who caught three passes for 43 yards.
Florence's Cole Robinson and Dalton Smith have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Robinson has thrown for 1836 yards this season, while Smith, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 47 catches for 939 yards. Tim Shramek's team's Singleton leads the league in rushing yards with 1202.
Paul Purvis' team's Hodge is a mere 82 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Hodge has rushed for 918 yards on 84 carries so far this year.
The Tigers led 4A Region 6 in scoring this week after putting up 31 points on Purvis. Hodge in the win.
