Basketball Game Preview: Buckeye Hawks vs. Estrella Foothills Wolves

The Buckeye Hawks will face off against the Estrella Foothills Wolves at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Buckeye comes in on four and Estrella Foothills on seven.

Last Monday, Buckeye earned a 61-49 win over Paradise Valley.

Buckeye relied on the efforts of Tia Chapman, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds, and La'Zaria Williams, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 15 points and four steals. Chapman has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Carsyn Jones, who posted 11 points.

Buckeye smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Estrella Foothills took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 69-32 victory over Deer Valley. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 21 contests by 30 points or more this season.

Estrella Foothills pushed their record up to 26-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.3 points per game. As for Buckeye, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Buckeye was taken down by Estrella Foothills 76-44 in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Estrella Foothills' Eva Amenhauser, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 22 boards.
