The Westminster Wolves will head out on the road to take on the Mountain Range Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westminster is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Westminster had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Kennedy on Thursday. The Wolves put the hurt on the Commanders with a sharp 14-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Commanders: they've now won four in a row.
Josh Baca and Adrian Moreno made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Baca struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Moreno tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Baca has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Baca got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Moreno went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those RBI were Baca's first of the season.

In other batting news, Westminster got a massive performance out of Tony sisneros, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave SiSneroS a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Agustin Eudavedeloera, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Westminster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Riverdale Ridge hit Mountain Range with a 11-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs came up short against the Ravens, falling 16-1. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Mustangs couldn't push the score so high this time.
Mountain Range saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sol Gutierrez, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
The victory got Westminster back to even at 3-3. As for Mountain Range, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Westminster has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .489. However, it's not like Mountain Range struggles in that department as they've averaged .462. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
