Sand Creek had won five straight games and Ethan Mangrum did his part to make it six on Friday. The Scorpions claimed a resounding 61-0 victory over the Thornton Trojans thanks in part to Mangrum, who rushed for 199 yards and four scores on only nine carries. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 14th straight game with at least 100 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Sand Creek's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB six times. Achilles Evans was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.

Sand Creek's record now sits at 6-0. As for Thornton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Sand Creek will challenge Cheyenne Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Scorpions will be up against the Red-Tailed Hawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 25.67 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Thornton, they will face off against Grand Junction at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
