The Columbia Roughnecks lost against the Sweeny Bulldogs back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Columbia took a hard 49-35 fall against the Bulldogs. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Columbia in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.
Alexia Lewis and Ayvah Fields certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Lewis scored 14 points along with two steals, while Fields scored six points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleese Swanks, who scored no points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Sweeny's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hailey Eulenfeld, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Shania Woodard was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Columbia has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season. As for Sweeny, their win bumped their record up to 19-9.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Bay City the next time they take the court. Columbia will head out to face the Blackcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Bulldogs will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
