Enfield has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. After each having a week off, the Enfield Eagles and The Berlin Redcoats will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 6:30 p.m. on October 20th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Enfield had a rough season last year, but they looks ready to turn that poor record around this year. They breezed by Newington at home to the tune of 42-7.
It was another big night for Zach Bonini, who rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Bonini was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 69 yards. Another player making a difference was Davon Randolph, who threw for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Berlin got themselves on the board against Bristol Central two weeks ago, but Bristol Central never followed suit. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 27-0 win over the Rams. Given Berlin's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Bristol Central is ranked 71st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jon jon Morales was the offensive standout of the contest as he picked up 79 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 92 yards on only seven carries.
Enfield's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.0 points per game. As for Berlin, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Enfield has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 293.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Berlin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 185 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Enfield was dealt a bruising 66-27 defeat at the hands of Berlin in their previous meeting back in October of 2021. Thankfully for Enfield, Jamie Palmese (who rushed for 171 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
