It was a good run, but The Master's Academy Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 40-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Burns.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Faith Yelton, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 20 rebounds. Yelton hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Braley Harrill, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Leading Burns to victory were Kaylee Greene and Maggie Earl. Greene dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten steals, while Earl dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Earl has scored all season.
The Master's Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4. As for Burns, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. The Master's Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Carolina Day at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. The Master's Academy is coming into the game with five straight defeats at home, so Carolina Day is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Burns will take on Thomas Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thomas Jefferson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Burns likes a good challenge.
