Softball Recap: First Colonial Extends Winning Streak to Five

First Colonial came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Bayside Marlins. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-0 back in April.

Chloe Outland looked comfortable as she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maura Haesler was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. She has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tori Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

First Colonial's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Bayside, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-10 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Colonial will head out to take on Kellam at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bayside, they will head out on the road to challenge Princess Anne at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
