Ohio Cardinal recap September 17, 2013
Nick Zurcher of Ashland ran for the longest rushing play in Ohio Cardinal this season against Sandusky last week. Zurcher's team beat the Blue Streaks as he sprinted for 79 yards on the play and finished with 196 in all.
Orrville moved up to 213 from 300 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Red Riders climbed the ranks as a result of topping Northwest 28-22.
Mansfield Senior's dynamic duo of Jalen Reese and Chekiah Washington proved tough for Marion Harding to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Reese threw for 332 yards and 2 touchdowns and Washington had 83 yards receiving. Asante' Wilder helped Mansfield Senior's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 67 yards.
The Tygers' dynamic duo of Reese and Washington proved to be unstoppable against the Presidents, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
He went 23-33 with 1 interceptions.
Zurcher was the most successful running back in the league this week. Jacob Allton also contributed to the rushing game with 19 yards on the ground.
Washington was the best receiver in Ohio Cardinal this week as Mansfield Senior topped Marion Harding.
Zurcher was a passing and rushing force as Ashland defeated Sandusky. Zurcher's key target this week was Max Stringer, who caught 5 passes for 80 yards.
Reese put up the best numbers in passing as Chioke Bradley's team bested John Brady's team.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Madison Comprehensive takes on West Holmes. At the moment, the Rams are in fifth, while the Knights are in first.
Clear Fork was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. The Colts vanquished Shelby 40-8 earlier in the week.
