South Platte is 1-9 against Bayard since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The South Platte Blue Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Bayard Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully South Platte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
South Platte scored the most points they've had all season to find success. Everything went their way against Banner County as South Platte made off with a 73-52 win. With that win, South Platte brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.
South Platte's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Cavin Lanman, who scored 17 points, and Dashle Richards, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. It was the first time this season that Lanman scored 15 or more points. Conner Evans was another key contributor, scoring four points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 77-35, which was the final score in Bayard's tilt against Hemingford on Saturday.
The victory makes it two in a row for South Platte and bumps their season record up to 9-9. As for Bayard, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
South Platte took their win against Bayard in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 67-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Platte since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
