The Vista Ridge Wolves had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Rampart with a sharp 57-36 victory on Saturday. That 21 point margin sets a new team best for Vista Ridge this season.
Vista Ridge was led to victory by Brandon Avance and Quentin Maldonado. Avance scored 19 points along with eight rebounds, while Maldonado scored 20 points along with five steals. Maldonado continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quentin Monck, who scored nine points.
Despite the loss, Rampart saw an underclassman step up: Theodore Wilson scored ten points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Bobby Woolfolk, who scored six points.
Rampart used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Vista Ridge. And. Woolfolk made the most of the opportunity, scoring six points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Rampart struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They are 1-2 when they just don't pass the ball.
Vista Ridge's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-14. As for Rampart, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Vista Ridge will head out on the road to take on Fountain-Fort Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Fountain-Fort Carson is ranked 160th, while Vista Ridge is ranked 165th). As for Rampart, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Doherty at 7:00 p.m. Doherty has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 750 points over their last 11 games.
