Fort Meade and Lakeland Christian played the most hotly contested game in 3A District 6 this week, with Fort Meade eventually emerging with a 37-34 victory.
The Miners led the league in scoring this week after putting up 37 points on the Vikings.
Xavier Gaines provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Frostproof bested Cardinal Mooney. He completed eight passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 112 yards. Gaines' favorite target this week was Daniel Knighten, who caught three passes for 128 yards.
Christian Alexander put up the best numbers through the air as Lakeland Christian lost to Fort Meade. He finished with a total of 23 completions for 337 yards and four touchdowns. Alexander's favorite target this week was Jordan White, who caught five passes for 112 yards.
Lakeland Christian's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Vikings feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Alexander has thrown for 1453 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while White has 27 catches for 486 yards. Rafeal Pressley leads the league in rushing with 707 yards.
The Bulldogs made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,434 from 4,786. The advance stemmed from a 33-19 victory over the Cougars last week.
