This season hasn't been kind to the Cook Inlet Academy Eagles, who are still winless after their 12th match. They fell 38-27 to Birchwood Christian on Saturday. Cook Inlet Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.
Leia West had a dynamite game for Birchwood Christian, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 22 rebounds. It was the first time this season that West scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kaytee Reich, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Cook Inlet Academy's defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Birchwood Christian, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-7.
Cook Inlet Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on February 9th. As for Birchwood Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles/Lady Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
