Softball Recap: Philo Wins Going Away Against Maysville

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sheridan, Philo was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Maysville Panthers with a sharp 18-3 victory. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Electrics this season.

Lexie Charles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Lia Unger was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Dilyn Brown also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Philo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Philo's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7. As for Maysville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Philo will head out to face off against Athens at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Maysville, they will be playing at home against Fairfield Union at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.33 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
