Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Providence Christian Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a hard 31-14 fall against Trinity Presbyterian on Friday. Providence Christian just can't catch a break and has now endured four defeats in a row.
Trinity Presbyterian was led to victory by Walker Mcclinton and Ross Sanders. Mcclinton threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns, while Sanders rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Sanders hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games.
Providence Christian's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 11-1 Straughn (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70.9% over those games). As for Trinity Presbyterian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Providence Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Trinity Presbyterian will face off against Flomaton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Flomaton's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three games.
