Concord extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 5-8. They lost 15-4 to the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans. The Spiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 9-3.
Concord saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexa Hooks, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
As for Northwest Cabarrus, the win got them back to even at 6-6. Considering they have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Northwest Cabarrus' side, Haylee Ellis made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Ellis has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March.
In other batting news, Northwest Cabarrus let Kinsley Jung and Kortlyn Ballard run wild. Jung went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Ballard got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Langston Harrison, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Northwest Cabarrus, they will take on Jay M. Robinson at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.58 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
