The Webb Schools lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alec Kaushal, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josef Sharifi, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
The Webb Schools struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Silver Valley pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.
Silver Valley was led to victory by Jasean Phillips and Damien Grundy. Phillips scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Grundy scored 22 points along with three steals. Grundy continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Javion Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
The Webb Schools has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Silver Valley, the win was the 20th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Webb Schools will face off against Mesa Grande Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Mesa Grande Academy is ranked 1180th, while The Webb Schools is ranked 1198th). Silver Valley on the road again on Friday and play against Apple Valley Christian at 3:30 p.m. on January 26th.
