It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Highland had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Griffith Panthers an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Trojans have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hailey Thomas was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Evie Rivera, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Highland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Griffith only posted a batting average of .217.
The win (which was Highland's third in a row) raised their record to 18-11. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Griffith, with the defeat, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-6.
As of now, neither Highland nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
