The Briar Woods Falcons will challenge Independence at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Briar Woods 2.9, Independence 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Briar Woods came out on top against Potomac Falls on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Falcons blew past the Panthers 10-1.

Caprice Bohmer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kara Yurish, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Zoe Polcen, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Briar Woods always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Potomac Falls only posted an OBP of .267.
Meanwhile, Independence faced Lightridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Independence fell just short of Lightridge by a score of 5-4. Independence's defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Independence saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Halliday Fulcher, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Briar Woods has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Independence, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.
Independence's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Briar Woods has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.7 strikeouts per game.
