Basketball Recap: Genesee's Win Ends Ten-Game Losing Streak at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Genesee). The stars were shining brightly for them in a 54-36 win over the St. John Bosco Academy Patriots on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Genesee was led to victory by Jackson Banks and Noah Bollman. Banks went 6 of 12 en route to 18 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Bollman posted 20 points in addition to five assists and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bollman has scored at least a third of Genesee's points. Another player making a difference was Kalitri Hubbard, who put up eight points.

Genesee's win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-3. As for St. John Bosco Academy, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Genesee won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Clearwater Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Clearwater Valley will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Genesee surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. John Bosco Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lapwai at 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
