Basketball Recap: Kenwood Finds Playoff Glory Versus Alton

With a playoff win on the line, Kenwood rose to the challenge on Friday. They managed a 61-55 win over the Alton Redbirds. Winning may never get old, but the Broncos sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kenwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ariella Henigan, who shot 46% from the field on her way to 18 points and five steals. Henigan's morning made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was London Walker George, who went 6-for-8 en route to 12 points and six rebounds.

Kenwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They are 33-1 when they've passed the ball that well.

Kenwood's victory bumped their record up to 34-3. As for Alton, with the defeat, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 33-3.

Coming up, Kenwood and Fremd will face off at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Kenwood knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 matches -- so hopefully Fremd likes a good challenge. As for Alton, they and Loyola Academy will face off at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Loyola Academy will roll in looking for their 29th straight win, something Alton surely won't give up without a fight.
