With a playoff game on the line, the Mission Viejo Diablos rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 27-14. Winning may never get old, but Mission Viejo sure is getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Mission Viejo can attribute much of their success to Luke Fahey, who rushed for 85 yards on only five carries, and also threw for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Those 85 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for him. Phillip Bell also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why De La Salle lost, one person who can't be blamed is Toa Faavae. Despite the final result, he rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. Those 162 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for him.
Mission Viejo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for De La Salle, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-3.
Mission Viejo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. De La Salle also has no future games currently scheduled.
