The Omaha Westside Warriors can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They put the hurt on Omaha South with a sharp 64-40 victory. With Omaha Westside ahead 38-17 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Leading Omaha Westside to victory were Elise Pederson and Kara Stricklin. Pederson scored 14 points, while Stricklin scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pederson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lakelyn Joslin, who scored five points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Omaha South saw an underclassman step up: Sierra Thomas scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Eve Hodoly was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Omaha South struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Omaha Westside is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Omaha South, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-7.
Omaha Westside the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Millard North on January 23rd. Omaha South won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Millard South at 5:30 p.m. on January 20th. Millard South is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
