Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is East Central's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

East Central never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Richmond on Saturday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Red Devils. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Red Devils on Saturday, they had to take a 9-0 defeat.

Chase Marsh made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Marsh was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ben Bond was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Brent Merk, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

East Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

East Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Richmond, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

East Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-6 win against Greensburg on the 12th. As for Richmond, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-4 victory against Monroe Central on the 15th.
