The Centauri Falcons will take on the Wray Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Centauri sitting on six straight wins and Wray on three.
Centauri can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They claimed a resounding 45-0 win over Monte Vista at home. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Centauri had established a 31 point advantage.
Parker Buhr was his usual excellent self, rushing for 306 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Buhr hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Marcos Atencio, who gained 75 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Wray strolled past Wiggins with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 35-21.
Casey Midcap had a dynamite game for Wray, rushing for 89 yards and a touchdown, while also catching a touchdown. Austin Collins did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 83 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 23 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Centauri's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 48.33 points. As for Wray, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Saturday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Centauri has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 216.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wray struggles in that department as they've been averaging 212 per game. It's looking like Saturday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Centauri strolled past Wray when the teams last played back in August of 2021 by a score of 28-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centauri since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
