After flying high against the French Camp Academy Panthers last Monday, the Velma Jackson Falcons came back down to earth. Velma Jackson took a 42-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nanih Waiya. Velma Jackson lost against Nanih Waiya in their previous head to head on January 5th, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 64-32 score last time.
Nanih Waiya's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nyshea Hoskin led the charge by scoring 24 points. Hoskin is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexzandria Eiland, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Velma Jackson dropped their record down to 6-14 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Nanih Waiya, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Velma Jackson and McAdams will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (McAdams is ranked 209th, while Velma Jackson is ranked 196th). As for Nanih Waiya, they will be playing in front of their home fans against French Camp Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
