Softball Game Preview: Lewiston Bengals vs. Twin Falls Bruins

The Lewiston Bengals will be taking part in a tournament against the Twin Falls Bruins at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Lewiston made easy work of Sandpoint and carried off a 10-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bengals.

Ashland Schnell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with six RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

In other pitching news, Hailey Robins looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Thorson, who scored three runs while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Anna Ready, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, Twin Falls can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They blew past Blackfoot 13-3. The Bruins not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 9, 2024.

Libby Torgrimson was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. She also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season. Hadley Fowler was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Twin Falls' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Lewiston, their record now sits at 2-0.

Lewiston took their win against Twin Falls when the teams last played back in March of 2021 by a conclusive 16-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lewiston since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
