Softball Recap: Bourbon Has No Trouble Against Grandview

Bourbon got themselves on the board against Grandview on Wednesday, but Grandview never followed suit. They blew past the Eagles 12-0. Considering the War Hawks have won seven contests by more than 11 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella Biles and Annalise Gobin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Biles kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Gobin pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those six strikeouts gave Biles a new career-high. At bat, Biles went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run, while Gobin went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Hailie Kahmke and Kenzey Waldron did most of the damage at the plate: Kahmke got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Waldron went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Kahmke a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Lauryn Hercules, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Bourbon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grandview only posted an OBP of .353.

The win made it two in a row for Bourbon and bumps their season record up to 10-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Grandview, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Bourbon beat the Eagles by a score of 16-1 later that day.
