The Dobson Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the West Point Dragons at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Dobson has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
On Thursday, Dobson didn't have quite enough to beat Apollo and fell 11-10. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brody Dobson and Jake Dobson did some serious damage despite the final result: Brody scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Jake went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. The dominant performance gave Brody a new career-high in runs. Cristian Renderos also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Even though they lost, Dobson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Apollo only managed seven hits.
West Point never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Cesar Chavez on Thursday. They blew past the Champions 12-1. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Dragons' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Adrian Navarro made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenyer Martinez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Aaron Ruiz was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Dobson now has a losing record of 2-3. As for West Point, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Dobson's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. Dobson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for West Point, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Dobson continue to outrun the ball?
Dobson skirted past West Point 3-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Does Dobson have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Point turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
