The Huguenot Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Manchester Lancers at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Huguenot has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Manchester will arrive with nine straight victories.
Huguenot suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. Their tough 55-30 loss to Cosby might stick with them for a while. Huguenot has struggled against Cosby recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kaemon Smith, who scored nine points along with three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Duddey Edwards-Carter, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Huguenot struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, even though Clover Hill scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, Manchester still came out on top. Manchester strolled past Clover Hill with points to spare, taking the game 72-57. Given Manchester's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Clover Hill is ranked 316th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Huguenot now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Manchester, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2.
Huguenot ended up a good deal behind Manchester in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, losing 72-54. Can Huguenot avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
