Spring Valley faced South Charleston in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Timberwolves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Black Eagles. The Timberwolves haven't had any issues with the Black Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Spring Valley got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 16-25, 15-10.

Emma Edwards paced Spring Valley's offense, picking up 11 kills. Edwards got some help from Avery Ellis and her 15 assists. Ellis was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Despite the loss, South Charleston still got an impressive performance from Hailey Maxwell, who had five kills, four digs, and two aces.

Spring Valley now has a winning record of 2-1. As for South Charleston, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Spring Valley has already played their next contest, a 1-1 draw against George Washington on the 23rd. As for South Charleston, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Shady Spring on the 23rd.
