On Tuesday, the Scottsbluff Bearcats faced the Ogallala Indians in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Scottsbluff fell to Ogallala 71-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Saturday (63), Scottsbluff still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Scottsbluff saw an underclassman step up: Nate Kelley almost dropped a triple-double on 28 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. Rylee Meininger was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Scottsbluff's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 10-4. As for Ogallala, their victory bumped their record up to 13-1.
Scottsbluff will be playing at home against Gering at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ogallala, they will head out on the road to face off against Alliance at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alliance will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 191st, while Ogallala is ranked fifth).
